The Last.fm Scrobbler is a free app that places the “social music revolution” onto your desktop, giving you access to thousands of tracks from all musical genres.
The beauty of the Last.fm Scrobbler is that it encourages you to find similar artists to the ones you already like and pushes you to interact with users who share the same tastes. Search results appear as a tag cloud, with the biggest elements being the most popular. With thousands of songs available on Last.fm, it’s pretty unlikely that you’ll listen to the same thing twice. The Last.fm Scrobbler is streamed and you’ll have to be connected to the internet and have a Last.fm account for it to work.
Although slightly bulky, the Last.fm Scrobbler is sleek and accessible. We like the shiny control icons and the “now playing” window. This is where you’ll find artist information like album cover, a small description of the artist, related tags and artists and top listeners. The Last.fm Scrobbler menu bar on the left includes your recently played tracks, recently loved and recently banned, although to listen to these you’ll need to upgrade your Last.fm account.
With the Last.fm Scrobbler, you can connect to neighbors' stations and listen to their tunes. The lists of the friends you made on Last.fm will also appear on your player. If you have the Audioscrobbler plug-in installed, Last.fm Scrobbler can also track all the songs you play in your favorite desktop music app (like iTunes) and connect you with even more neighbors.

Keepvid allows you to search and download songs from video streaming sites.
Multiple options for downloading music and videos
Like most programs, you can search Keepvid by artist or song title. After a few minutes, Keepvid indexes a database of over 15 million downloadable videos for results.
You can download the chosen song or video by dragging and dropping the file into the download section. Alternatively, right-clicking the indexed track will show you several options:
- Play: Starts playback streaming of the song in a simple built-in audio player.
- Watch video: Opens and plays the music video in your browser.
- Fast download: Download the video of the song. You can choose which resolution you want to download the video from the ones available.
- Download as: Download only the audio or video of the song in the format you choose.
- Transfer to iTunes: You can send the file to AIFF or as an MP3 to iTunes.
Streaming songs is free, but there are limitations to downloading and conversion which aren't fully obvious within the program itself. For more details on the limitations, you have to go to the manufacturer's website.
Everything at your fingertips
Initially, the Keepvid interface may seem chaotic, but after playing around with it for a few minutes, it's easy to become familiar with the controls, which are all located on the same screen.
Managing categories of tracks (Fast download, Transfer to iTunes, etc.) is only accessible via right mouse click and the interface could be improved with an options menu for the program.
What is convenient is the ability to contact customer service for real-time support using the integrated chat function.
Fast downloads
Keepvid indexes search results quickly and the music was downloaded more quickly than we expected. On the other hand, we did have issues downloading videos in some cases.
The application uses 3 different processes and as a result uses moderate resource consumption.
Bundled software
During installation, you will be offered the option to install a toolbar and other software. You can simply refuse by clicking 'Skip'.
Verdict
Keepvid is a good program to download songs and music videos, but the download and conversion limitations aren't recognizable from the app's interface.
Keepvid supports multiple download types and has an integrated live chat for customer service, but it generally doesn't include any novel features that make it stand out from other similar free video download programs like Songr.

Overview
TuneUp sits next to your iTunes window, and has four functions. First is 'Clean', which searches for possible fits to your mislabeled tracks, and then automatically changes the file's tag. You can also search for cover art in the same way. Drag any album missing artwork into the TuneUp box, and it will find suitable matches, then update your files. If you like the 'cover flow' feature on iTunes, this is a great way to make it look even better.
Features
The DeDuper feature searches out duplicate songs in your collection, which you can then remove. Finally there is the Tuniverse. TuneUp's Tuniverse allows you to share what you're playing on Facebook, tweet the song on Twitter, and see related YouTube videos and biographies from Freebase. There are even concert and event notifications via the StubHub service.
TuneUp allows you to clean 500 songs and find 50 album covers, so once you've used them up you'll have to subscribe to do more. The unlimited 'Now Playing' and 'Concerts' functions might be useful to you, and the YouTube videos are definitely a nice touch.
TuneUp is a nice idea. iTunes libraries can get really untidy, and it's good to have an automated cleaning system. The app sits neatly next to iTunes, and doesn't use significant system resources.
If you have lots of files in your iTunes library that need organizing, TuneUp is a great organizational option.
